Music visualization
- Creative Fields Animation
- Semester 3.
- Years 2013/2014
Based on the second semester project dealing with grid and interference patterns, this project investigates the creative possibilities colors offer.
We were presented with three choices:
– Create a two dimensional project
– Create a three dimensional project
– Create an animated project
The only limitation was that it had to be based on simple, geometric patterns.
Since an animation is the most dynamic medium of those three choices it is the one that I chose.
I decided to create a music visualization based on the basic layout of an LED-wall. My goal was to create something highly dynamic and versatile, therefore I chose to program this project using the programming languages Java and Processing. This allowed me to visualize any kind of music in real time while giving the user control of certain aspects of the visualization.
I devised a special keyboard which provides the means to influence several aspects of the animation such as the basic geometric form it is based on, the size and distance of these elements as well as several other things.
The video below showcases a few settings of the resulting program.
